After Dr O’Hara completed thorough training across all aspects of Plastic, Reconstructive and Burns Surgery, she was appointed as a consultant at Royal North Shore Hospital and Concord Hospitals, the two Severe Burns Injury Services in New South Wales.
Dr O’Hara further completed Fellowships in the UK in Aesthetic Surgery and Craniofacial Surgery at the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children, in Microsurgery at Cambridge University Hospital, and in Burns Surgery at St Andrew’s Centre for Plastic Surgery. Subsequently she was invited to be a Craniofacial Consultant at the Great Ormond Street Hospital for 4 years.
After returning to Australia, Dr O’Hara was appointed as a Consultant at Concord Hospital in Plastic Surgery and Burns Surgery, which has a has a strong interest in utilizing bioengineered products. Dr O’Hara’s areas of research interest in burns include dermal replacement, scar therapy with dermal needling and clinical outcomes in burns.
